Saturday/Sunday – An early start, getting up at 4 am that nearly killed me and I was on my way to the airport, having saved up all year, moved home, sold my car, and bored everyone to death about travelling it was finally happening. I was nervous, scared, and excited, but looking forward to the trip of a lifetime!

First, was a 7-hour flight to Dubai which was boring as hell. I had seen all the movies that were available so my idea of passing the time watching films was out the window, my laptop was in the overhead locker and the bloke behind me decided to cram all his shit in after mine, so I wasn’t seeing that for the entire flight.
I eventually started speaking to the bloke next to me who was a scouser and a massive Liverpool fan so that was a nice 2-hour end to the flight talking nonstop about the reds.
My next flight from Dubai to Bangkok was probably the worst flight in my entire life. There is always one bellend on a plane and lucky for me I was sat next to the Boeing 737 bellend of the day, a 76-year-old scouser telling me how he was going to be “banging hookers all night” and telling me about his son, his ex. I tried my best to look as disinterested as possible so he would leave me alone, but he didn’t.
I finally arrived in Bangkok and headed to get the bus that I got last time that took me straight to Khao San Road, I arrived and saw a big sign, “THE AIRPORT EXPRESS HAS NOW STOPPED RUNNING”… FFS!!!
I had to take a train and then a tuk-tuk, not really an experience after a full day of travelling. I finally arrived at Khao San Road.
A year on, same old shit, “tuk tuk”, “friend, you want to buy a suit, good price”, “ping pong”, “massage, good time”. I had definitely arrived in Thailand.

I checked into my hotel, which looked nice in the photos, but the reality was it looked like a prison cell and someone had stuck a double bed in it. Thank god I robbed the pillow from the flight.

Went to watch Liverpool in the pub. It is crazy how Thai people love Liverpool and how much they get involved, so watching them was probably more entertaining than the actual game.
They were all shouting and screaming at the TV like their lives depended on it, every time the ball passed the halfway line they would scream with excitement.
When half-time arrived things got a little awkward. Every time I glanced around, different Thai kept staring at me, trying to make eye contact and then smiling and some even were waving me over. Not sure what type of bar I was in actually, this has never happened at home so they must love pasty blonde-looking lads. I went to the toilet and a girl walked in, then a bloke then came in and they both went in a cubicle together, so yeah, I was definitely in the wrong type of bar. I watched the second half and quickly left.

Monday
I spent the day in China Town wandering around the streets, a mental place, even busier than the Khan Sao area, the food looked amazing but I had just eaten so I had to give the shark fin a miss.

I am currently sitting in an internet cafe waiting around for my sleeper train to Chiang Mai which takes about 15 hours and should be an experience!!!
